Fun Facts: Valpolicella is not only a wine region in Italy, it’s also a style of wine much like Champagne or Beaujolais. There are 5 different styles of Valpolicella (Classico, Classico Superiore, Ripasso, Amarone, Recioto) ranging in light to full-bodied and sweet. The latter styles utilize a grape drying method prior to the winemaking process, resulting in more depth, richness, spice and sweetness in the wine. This wine (Valpolicella Ripasso) utilizes a mixture of both whole harvested grapes and dried grapes in the winemaking process creating a complex wine that marries with a variety of foods.
