Fun Facts: L’Ecole N. 41 was founded in 1983 and is now in its third generation of winemakers. They were also the third winery established in the Walla Walla Valley. The wineries label depicts a schoolhouse which is located in historic Frenchtown, a small community just west of Walla Walla. Frenchtown derived its name from the many French Canadians that settled in the Walla Walla Valley during the early 1800s and began planting grapes. The winery name, L’Ecole N° 41 – French for “the school” located in the school district 41 – was a log cabin in 1870 and rebuilt in 1915. This name was chosen to salute these pioneer French Canadians and their viticulture efforts.
