Fun Facts: Carignan was originally a popular varietal used in California, French and Spanish box and jug wine back in the 70’s & 80’s, but the varietal slowly fell off the map. It was also used as a blending grape. Lioco helped to re-popularize the Carignan grape back in 2006 when they made their “breakout” wine, Indica.
